New Line Will Produce "Hoot" Movie Based on Carl Hiaasen's Book
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 17, 2005 - New Line Cinema has partnered with production companies Walden Media and the
Kennedy/Marshall Company to produce a feature adaptation of the popular Carl Hiaasen children's novel "Hoot."
Based on the Newbery Award-honored book which has become a New York Times bestseller, "Hoot" revolves around a young
boy who moves to Florida where he tries to solve an ecological mystery involving endangered owls, an assortment of other
unusual creatures, and group of eccentric adults.
Director/comedian Wil Shriner ("Frasier," "Becker"), will direct the film. Shriner also has written the initial draft of the film's script.
"'Hoot' is a classic book in the same vein as 'Holes' and 'Because of Winn-Dixie' that will only grow in popularity and importance
in the years to come," said Walden Media CEO Cary Granat.
"We are extremely grateful to Frank Marshall and Jimmy Buffett for bringing us onto this project as a partner, and look forward to
working with them and New Line."
"Hoot" is being produced by Frank Marshall and Jimmy Buffett, who will also provide music for the film. New Line's Mark
Kaufman and Michael Disco are overseeing the production for the studio while Doug Jones and Evan Turner are overseeing the
project for Walden Media.

CONGRATULATIONS to Thomas Pimentel and TNT LTD. PRODUCTIONS and the Cast and crew of Indiana
James and the Raiders of the Lost Shaker of Salt. On Saturday night, August 12th, 2006, an eight minute clip of Indiana
James was played at the Jimmy Buffett concert in Mansfield Massachusetts at the Tweeter Center to open up the
second half of the show. The video was received with laughs, whistles and applause. "You could feel the excitement in
the crowd, especially when the beach ball came rolling down that huge ramp after Indy." Director Thomas Pimentel also
said that the surprises and excitement did not end there. "On Thursday night I was invited back stage because Jimmy
wanted to meet ME. They didn't tell me that I could meet Jimmy. They said he wanted to meet me. I got to hang out
back stage with Jimmy Buffett's video director, Stan Kellam, and see how the show is put together. I was introduced to
Buffett and he told me that he saw the movie and laughed his ass off. I was floored. Almost five years of hard work had
definitely paid off. We talked about editing and he wanted to know why I made the movie. I explained to him that I had
an overactive imagination by which he replied, I can relate to that. Buffett then told me that he wants to be in the movie
and we would go on to discuss logistics of working him into the project with a cameo. Could this dream get any better?
We shook hands again and I thanked him for the tremendous opportunity and told him to have a good show. Buffett
then told me that he was honored to meet me and went right to the stage. Even though the video was not played
Thursday night because of the rain, they don't take an intermission if it rains too hard, it was played on Saturday night.
One of my dreams was realized and I was able to meet one of my idols. If anything my encounter with Jimmy Buffett has
taught me one thing. Never, ever stop trying to achieve your goals. Never settle for mediocre and never stop chasing
your dreams. Thanks to Stan Kellam for the VIP treatment and facilitating the meeting. You rock. Special thanks to Mr.
Buffett. With a little love and luck we will get by.
